I agree with you, girls tend to be a bit dramatic, but alot of guys are too. It all depends upon how they were raised and the personality of the person in question. what if that person were raised differently? would they be less likely to be dramatic people? or would the always turn out the same way?

Or maybe it's the personality that's at fault. That no matter what environment that person was raised in, they will turn out to be a drama queen/king.

I personally believe that it could be a combination of both. I think it could be more common for girls to be more dramatic because they tend to have the personality for it (aka, jealous easily, over reactive, ect.). which is also why guys can also be dramatic themselves. -caughjessecaugh-

and I guess I'm the second person to comment. awesomeness

You've described the mental manipulation inherent to slavery very well. However, if you believe this is not taking place now, then you may be unaware of the mental manipulation that takes place during child abuse, and the slavery that is inherent to child abuse.

It's taken me 40 years to understand how my mind was manipulated as a child, and to prepare me to recognize myself in your description of slavery, so thank you for writing it when I needed it. I'm relieved to know that you didn't recognize yourself in it.

The why of it is very simple: social training. Look up "passive aggressive behavior" for more specific details.

Let's say Dick, Jane, Jimmy, and Susie are all 3 years old, playing in the sandbox. If Dick grabs Jimmy's bucket and won't give it back, none of the grownups comes down on Jimmy very hard when he smacks Dick in the head with his shovel; rather, they say "Jimmy, hitting people isn't good, but we'll let it go this time, because no one likes a thief. Dick, I'm sorry your head hurts, but you should have known better, so stop sniffling. Both of you, straighten up and behave. We don't want this to happen again."

If the same exchange involved Jane and Susie, the parents would NOT be so calm about it, and would most likely say things about how "Ladies don't act like that!"

Under this double standard, boys are taught how to vent and ultimately control their anger, but girls are only taught how to hide it until it makes them crazy. Over time, their anger festers and comes out in all the stupid ways you mentioned: lying, backstabbing, and so on.

Fundamentally, these girls have been forced to live a lie, and it makes them feel powerless, and so they engage in these evil, contemptible behaviors. Maybe it's not always as simple as that, but that's most of it. More than anything, they deserve your pity, but I'll understand if you don't feel like being that generous with them.

There are two bits of good news. The first is that this is happening less in each generation, because girls are being raised to be more active and assertive. It's still got a way to go, but the trend is headed in the right direction. The second bit of good news is that you can help it along by just not taking any grief from these girls. I'm not saying you need to go hit them with a shovel; a quick "I'm tired of your bullshit. Stay out of my life." ought to do it. If it doesn't, please consult with your folks before you do anything drastic.

take care,

I'm not sure, you may not have put enough emphasis on points 1, 5, and 6.
