The University of Pittsburgh (www.pitt.edu), Carnegie Mellon University (www.cmu.edu), and Duquesne University (www.duq.edu) are all very close to one another, in and around the Oakland neighborhood. My point is that having that many young people in such a relatively small area means that no matter you're interested in, from extreme sports to obscure music to 18th Century French poetry, it'll be pretty easy to find a few dozen other people who share that interest.
